Four years ago, we started a New Location Same Foundation three-year capital campaign, with the understanding that no ground would be broken until at least $500,000 was raised. Land was purchased, churches were visited for plan ideas, and an architect was called to develop plans. Through the three years, God was faithful and raised up His people to give – some out of abundance and some out of personal sacrifice. The goal of $500,000 was exceeded. After our groundbreaking offering this spring, we had $607,000 in the growth fund. As of June 1, we entered our Rise Up And Build five-year capital campaign. Our pledges for this campaign now total $506,900. Our projected building cost is $2 million. Pledge commitments may be made at any time. If you are not able to make a pledge commitment, please give whatever you are able to the Growth Fund above your regular tithes and offerings. Please be assured that all pledges and offerings are confidential. If you have questions about the building project or the Rise Up And Build campaign, you may call or email Janet at the church office and a member of the Growth

Team will return your call.

In the May 28, 2008, Purpose Driven Life devotional, Rick Warren points out three lessons about generosity –

1.      God is the source of ALL we have.

2.      God doesn’t need our money. He simply uses the giving as a way to

strengthen our faith. It teaches us to be unselfish and to trust in God.

3.      God wants us to be generous so we can fulfill our purpose.

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things,

at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work.”

2 Corinthians 9:8

In an effort to provide support for missions that are not in our monthly budget, we are starting a dollar Sunday once a month. On the 4th Sunday of each month, we are asking each person to give at least one extra dollar in a special offering to send to a mission or project. Some of these missions will be new to us and some will be familiar but do not receive our budgeted support. We have named this project “Bless a Mission”. Our next Sunday will be
August 31 and the recipient is Mason City Food Pantry.

The Mexico Mission Team Cookbooks are now for sale. You can purchase one (or more) by calling Kathy List (482-3884), Naomi Wands (482-3028) or see Dave Harrison in the church office.
